Is it safe to place a vent in a chimney stack to allow warm air to enter a room?
The Chimney is lined with a steel liner, which runs up from a woodburning stove.
not a good idea, they may appear to be airtight but there may be small leakage…
Is it completely necessary to have you chimney lined when installing a wood burning stove?
It looks like it will cost me almost as much as the stove to get my Chimney lined as well so would rather not. Also does anyone know of any good value english wood burners available?
I brought a firefox 8(Chinese made but english site ) from stovesareus on internet …its brill and I didn’t bother to use chimney liner however I might if my house was new ….
How can you tell if wood is safe to use in a wood stove?
I was wondering because I have a lot of downed trees on my property and I want to harvest them this spring for use in my Wood Stove next winter. Can wood be too dry and/or old? How do I know if it’s too wet? Thanks in advance!
Only burn cured (dried) hardwood. If the trees have been down for awhile, they may be too deteriorated to be of use. If the wood is crumbling, it is too far gone
